Terms of Service

Glass Register is an online donation platform that allows registered nonprofit organizations (“Organizations”) to create donation forms, accept donations from donors, and issue tax receipts to donors.

Glass Register is available to registered charities in Canada (registered with the Canada Revenue Agency) and tax-exempt organizations in the United States (recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code).

By using Glass Register, you represent and warrant that your organization is a legitimately registered charity or nonprofit organization in its jurisdiction of operation.

You agree to use Glass Register only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Misrepresent your organization's charitable status or registration
• Use the platform for fundraising that benefits private individuals
• Create fraudulent donation forms or collect donations under false pretenses
• Use the platform to fundraise for political campaigns or political action committees
• Violate applicable fundraising regulations in your jurisdiction
• Attempt to circumvent our fraud detection or payment processing systems
• Engage in any conduct that could expose Societ to legal liability

Societ reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we determine, in our sole discretion, are using the platform inappropriately.

Free for Organizations: Glass Register is provided at no cost to nonprofit organizations. Societ covers all platform fees. There are no monthly subscription fees, setup fees, or per-transaction platform fees charged to your organization.

Optional Donor Tip: Donors may be offered the option to add a small optional tip to their donation to help cover payment processing costs. This tip is entirely voluntary and is never deducted from the donation amount. Donors who decline the tip still give their full intended donation amount to the organization.

Payment Processing: All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Stripe's standard processing fees apply. Societ may absorb these fees at its discretion as part of the free service offering.

Societ reserves the right to introduce fees in the future with reasonable advance notice to organizations.

By using Glass Register, you acknowledge that:

• Donor data (name, email, address, donation amount) is collected and stored to enable donation processing and receipt generation.
• You are responsible for informing your donors of how their data is used, consistent with applicable privacy laws (PIPEDA in Canada, applicable state laws in the US).
• Societ stores donor data on secure cloud infrastructure (Amazon Web Services, Canada region by default).
• You may export your donor and donation data at any time from the dashboard.

Glass Register uses Stripe Connect to enable payment processing for organizations. To accept donations, you must connect a Stripe account to your Glass Register organization profile.

By connecting your Stripe account, you agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement and Stripe's Terms of Service.

Societ is not responsible for any issues arising from your Stripe account, including payment holds, disputes, or chargebacks. These matters are governed by your agreement with Stripe.

GLASS REGISTER IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Societ does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. You use Glass Register at your own risk.

Societ does not provide legal, tax, or accounting advice. The tax receipt templates provided are for informational purposes only. Organizations are responsible for ensuring their receipts comply with applicable laws.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SOCIET SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF REVENUE, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF GLASS REGISTER.

IN NO EVENT SHALL SOCIET'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO SOCIET IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100 CAD).

By You: You may terminate your Glass Register account at any time by contacting support. Upon termination, your organization's data will be retained for a period of 90 days to allow for data export, after which it may be deleted.

By Societ: Societ may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms of Service, for fraud prevention, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, and Data Handling obligations) will survive.
